Joy Fold Cards

I was playing the other day and decided to try making a joy fold card as suggested on the Sugar Nellie Group on Facebook.  I wasn't organised enough to enter these for the Facebook Challenge, lets see if I can manage to do an easel card to fit this weeks!

This is my first one following the sizes in the tutorial. I used up the scraps of paper left over from my daughter's birthday card from the Papermania Love Colossal Paper Pack, very eco friendly.  My printer was out of action while I waited for my new ink cartridges to arrive so had to resort to some peel offs for the word Aunt.

Then I made up my own size that would fit in a C5 envelope.  The papers were from the Papermania Flowery Colossal Paper Pack.

Finally I made one that opened the other way (up and down) but still big enough to fit in a C5 envelope.

At least my printer cartridges have arrived and I can go back to printing my sentiments that I don't have a stamp for.

Hope you like them.

Take care and lots of luv

I can't believe I've been given an award!

The very lovely Marlene (Paper Papillon) has nominated me for this award.  Thank you so much, I am truly shocked and stunned, but very pleased. I can't believe how kind everyone is here in blogland, especially as I've only had my blog for such a short while.

As part of receiving this award I have to do the following:

Thank the person who gave me this award and link back to their blog.

Pass this award on to 8 other bloggers that I love to visit and leave a comment so that they are able to pass on the recognition that they have received.

And finally share 8 things about myself to those who come by to read my blog.

Thanks.

Right then, here goes with some tidbits about me:

  1. I live with Mr Bray (or Andy to his friends) and we have 2 lovely kids, Maisie and Alistair, both of whom are growing up far too quickly.
  2. I'm originally from the Borders of Scotland but came to Sheffield when I was 6 years old.  I still love to go up home to visit family, but don't get to go as often as I'd like.
  3. I've worked for Sheffield City Council for 25 years (are you mad I hear you say, and yes I think I am).  Although I've been part-time since Maisie was born, I'd still rather be at home in my craft room.
  4. We have two cats, Tinkerbell and Tallula, neither of whom like being cuddled, but Tallula loves to lie next to me on my craft desk.
  5. I have cerise pink and deep purple in my fringe, this is in the vain hope that it will make me appear younger than I actually am, lol.
  6. I'm a constant yo-yo dieter and dream of getting to my ideal weight one day. Yes I'm trying again, so any low-fat/low-calorie recipe ideas will be very welcome.
  7. I love a game of bingo with my girlfriends, especially if I win as the money goes towards my craft budget which is never big enough to supply all the things I want.....sorry I mean all the things I need!!!
  8. My dream would be to own a craft shop, with a workshop for holding crops, etc.  Maybe one day if I win the lottery.....

Me and Alistiar

The 8 bloggers I've chosen to give the award to are the ones that I visit most days.  They are all so talented and give me loads of inspiration, and maybe one day my creations will come close to their standards.  I'll keep practicing!!  I know some of you have received this award already but felt it was only right for me to give to those that have inspired me the most.....so far anyway!  I'm sure if you have already received the award and passed it on that you don't have to go through the whole process again.

and last but not least I give it back to Marlene who passed to me!

Thank you all ladies!

Lots of Luv and Hugs to everyone

Special Delivery - Baby Boy

Hiya

I was asked by a friend to make a card to celebrate the birth of her third Grandson.  As she knew he was to be a boy I had a nosey round some of my fave blogs and found this card by Christine which gave me my first burst of inspiration, so much so that I bought the stamp and she used and a digi image to go with it from Pink Gem Designs.

I apologise for the photos being a wee bit naf I need to start taking them in daylight.  Also don't look too closely at my colouring, I tried to water colour this digi image but it was making the printer ink run (lesson learned.)

The gingham is Papermania acetate, and the footprint paper was a freebie from a magazine, and the diamond pattern paper was from my stash.  The ribbon along the bottom of the card is part of my Candy from the wonderful Marlene.

As you can see I added more inspiration, by doing a stairstep card, I had tried this for my previous post with the WoW Diamond Anniversary Card.

This is the stamp I first saw on Christine's Card that I just had to have.  I've used Diamond Stickles round the two sentiments and also round the edges of the footprint paper panel and the image panel.

I had hoped to be able to match the font for this computer generated greeting to the that in the stamp but alas I have not got many to choose from on this PC. I must try and copy my fonts from my old PC to this one.

I love this little fabric pram embelli!

My friend adored the card and I hope you like it too.

See you soon and take care.

WoW Diamond Anniversary

I was asked to make a diamond anniversary card by a friend and after seeing Marlene's White on White card the other day I decided that's what I'd try for this project.  I got the template for the stairstep card from the same place as Marlene to, you can find it here.

As this card was for a diamond anniversary I wanted lots of bling on it.

I made a traditional insert that fits into the steps, this can be seen through the openings at the side, it stops you from seeing all the way into the greeting on the inside.

The swirls were cut using my Cricut from the Storybook cartridge and I made the flowers by using EK Success punches in 3 sizes.

Hope you like it.  I'm not sure if I would use the mirror card behind the Happy Ever After if I was to make another, but I'm reasonably pleased with the final result.

Maisie's Birthday Card

As promised a wee while ago here is the card I made for my daughter's birthday, last Thursday.

The plain matting papers are DCWV and the DP's are Love Papermania Colossal Paper Pack.

The stamp is Gorjuss - Purrfect Friend which I got from The Craft Box at Elsecar.

The fabric covered wooden cat and the flowers were from my stash.

The metal tag had the words Happy Birthday and again was from my stash.

Hope you all like it, Maisie absolutely loved it which is the most important thing.

See you soon.
